BURLEY – Lewis Argustus Baxter, 70, of Burley, Idaho, left this mortal existence on Monday, April 22, 2013.  He was born in Arkansas, but spent the majority of his life in the Burley area.

Lewis was often known as Louie by his friends and loved ones.  He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather, whose life revolved around them and their happiness.  He had many passions and interests throughout his life including gardening, fishing, classic muscle cars, hunting, and anything that included being outdoors.  He was a soft-spoken man full of kindness, service, compassion, and honesty.  He was an extremely hard-worker, full of creativity and innovation.  His unconditional love touched so many people, and they were simply better for having known him.  Anyone in his presence could feel his genuine spirit, and enjoy his sense of humor and laughter.  There is no doubt he will be greatly missed by his friends and loved ones here, but we take comfort in the joyous reunions that are taking place in heaven. He is survived by his children, Tammy (Jason) Robinson, Michelle (Tony) Potter, Jimmy (Janeal) Baxter, and Tiffney; his fourteen grandchildren, his siblings,  Jack, Virginia, and Butch, and the mother of his four children, Susan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Mitchell, his brothers Dorlan Gene,  Nolas, Mitchell Jr. “Bubba”, and Dean; his sister, Betty Jo;his nephew, Victor; and his two daughters, Melissa and Teresa.

There will be a private family service to honor Lewis at a future date.

Cremation services are under the direction of Morrison Payne Funeral Home in Burley.
